Team Building For Youth

This is hands-on fun and excitement with purpose! Build your team, communication, trust, and leadership and leadership skills (other themes are available upon request). Ice breakers start the program and are followed with tailored challenges that match the group's dynamics and help to make available the most opportunity for growth. Small groups of 10-14 are each matched with an Open Door Development facilitator, gathering together at the end of the day for a mega-challenge that puts their team skills to work!

Through group discussion and hands-on challenges, participants will explore their current conflict resolution personality and the strengths/weaknesses associated with it. Participants will also learn the four steps to resolving conflict in a healthy way, developing constructive problem-solving skills and basic peer mediation skills for helping others who are in conflict.

Stress is not all bad because it can be the motivating force leading us towards personal growth. However when we experience high levels of stress, or have been experiencing stress for a prolonged period of time, our physical and mental health begins to suffer. And stress does not just affect adults, but children and teens as well. There is growing concern over the number of youth experiencing a physical or mental health crisis as the result of stress. This course empowers youth, students, parents, corporate professionals, health care professionals, law enforcement personnel, teachers, and everyone else to reduce their stress so they can face life's challenges in a healthy and constructive way.

Broken down in to two segments, a Foundations and a Focused module, this course covers the following content:


Foundations Module

  • The history of Stress WinnerTM Stress Reduction Training and its founder Dr. David Rainham
  • The Stress Battle, understanding why our bodies react to stress the way they do
  • Identifying the signs and symptoms of stress that you are currently experiencing
  • Outlining how to best communicate your health concerns with your doctor
  • Identifying past and current life events that are affecting your current level of stress
  • Identifying past and current lifestyle choices that are affecting your current level of stress
  • Identifying thoughts and attitudes that are affecting your current level of stress
  • Exploring the concept of change and how to navigate it in a healthy and constructive way
  • Completing the Ultimate Health Wheel exercise to identify areas where help is needed to improve techniques for reducing stress

A great way to begin your career as a professional babysitter, learn business skills, appropriate activities for children of all ages and stages, first aid skills for emergencies and much more. A great addition to your resume, this course will prepare you to meet babysitting challenges head-on and provide active care for children that will have parents calling you back again and again.

Learn to be a People Saver! Participants receive an activity workbook and learn how to check for safety, call for help, and care for unconsciousness, choking, bleeding, poisons, broken bones, burns, hypothermia and heat stroke. Participants will also receive introductory training for CPR.
